rented car in cairo & drafted osama MOHAMMAD, an Egyptian/saudi astro student & sped across northern Egypt to a foggy plateau 4k from libya where we asked a heavily armed and not amused libyan guard if we could go in "for just a few hours to see the eclipse." uzi waving -- "go away!" soupy fog burned off and i commentated solar totality live on EGYPTIAN national tv in english.
